On May 16, 2025, the Automotive Parts and Components Industry Group of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), led by Mr. Supach Sukpisan, the Group's Chairman, participated in a seminar on “Strategic Development of Technology and Innovation for Modern Automobiles” organized by the Thai Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association (TAPMA) at the BITEC Bangna Convention Center.
This seminar featured esteemed experts, including Associate Professor Dr. Phongpan Kaewtatip, Director of the Strategic Science, Research, and Innovation Mission Unit (VWIN) of the Thai Economic Development Office of the National Science, Research and Innovation Office (NSTDA), Dr. Kriangsak Wongparamrat, Director of the Automotive Institute, Dr. Karuna Tujinda, Advisor to the Future Transportation System Program, Mr. Ukkrit Kitsiricharoenchai, Senior Innovation Development Manager at the National Innovation Agency, Professor Dr. Phatthapong Intarakamnerd from GRIPS Institute in Japan, and Dr. Nuongchol Chonkup, Chairman of the Strategic Integration Working Group for the Development of Low Carbon Energy Science, Research and Innovation at the National Science, Research, and Innovation Office.
During the event, Dr. Kriangsak discussed the operational plan for assessing the “potential of Thai parts manufacturers” to integrate into the supply chain of modern automobiles, emphasizing development according to high-demand components such as electrical systems, cooling control systems, ECUs, and other common parts that align with the trends in electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid industries in the country.
Mr. Ukkrit presented mechanisms to support innovation businesses, particularly the Mandatory Innovation project, which offers partial funding (Matching Fund) to electric vehicle innovation operators and related technologies. Successful project examples include the development of impact-resistant components using aluminum die-casting technology by Summit R&D Center and a platform for electric motorcycle services with a network of battery swapping stations.
FTI believes that elevating parts manufacturers must rely on clear supply and demand data, especially during the transition of the Thai industry to a clean energy transportation system. Supporting the potential assessment project is thus a vital mechanism that enables Thai operators to systematically enter the global industrial supply chain.
Furthermore, FTI is ready to promote the connection between the public and private sectors in formulating a joint technology development strategy to create a new, high-value, and sustainable future for the Thai automotive industry.
