ส.อ.ท. จัดประชุมคณะกรรมการฯ ครั้งที่ 6/2568 (15) ขับเคลื่อนนโยบายสำคัญอุตสาหกรรมไทยFTI Holds the 6th Meeting of the Board of Directors for 2025 (15) to Drive Key Policies for Thai Industry

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) convened the 6th Board of Directors Meeting for 2025 (15) with Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, President of FTI, presiding over the meeting, along with Mr. Thavee Piyapathana, Senior Vice President of FTI, Dr. Piyanuch Malakul na Ayutthaya, Vice President and Treasurer of FTI, Mr. Isares Ratandilok na Phuket, Vice President and Registrar of FTI, and Mr. Krit Imsang, Secretary-General of FTI, as well as other board members, at Meeting Room 109 (1st floor) at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

This meeting presented important agendas beneficial for the advancement of the industrial sector, including:
1. Request for approval of appointed directors (replacement)
2. Request for approval of the logo and amendment of the regulations of the Digital Institute for Industry
3. Request for approval to change the emblem and amend the regulations of the Machine and Metal Industry Group
4. Meeting with the Joint Private Sector Committee from three institutions (JRPC) to meet with the Governor of the Bank of Thailand to exchange opinions, suggestions, and foster cooperation in linking data for economic analysis
5. Discussion with the Minister of Labour with the following proposals:
 1) Increase labor productivity to enhance Thailand's competitiveness against rival countries as a national agenda.
 2) Promote and develop SMEs by implementing automation systems to replace the lacking workforce.
 3) Develop modern and accurate Big Data.
 4) Coordinate cooperation between the government, education sectors, and private sectors to produce personnel according to labor market needs.
 5) Address foreign labor shortages.
 6) Address the issue of Thailand entering an aging society to alleviate labor shortages.
 7) Increase income for workers through Pay by Skills.
 8) Policy to adjust the minimum wage rate to ensure fairness between employers and employees through a tripartite system.
6. Discussion with the Minister of Commerce with the following proposals:
 1) Prepare to tackle the impacts of U.S. tax policies, such as pushing measures to alleviate the burdens on affected entrepreneurs regarding Reciprocal Tariff.
 2) Promote SMEs to Go Global, such as expanding support for the SME Pro-active project and establishing a comprehensive market and export consultancy center.
 3) Ways to support the development of intellectual property (IP) and soft power systems.
7. Report on the flood situation in the northern region, with severely affected provinces including Nan, Chiang Rai, Phrae, and Sukhothai, resulting in over 76,000 households in distress. The Northern Industrial Council has opened a donation drive to assist the affected provincial industrial councils, receiving a total of 332,887.99 THB (as of July 29, 2025, 08:49 AM) while also delivering drinking water and essential items to the victims. Furthermore, PFP Group has supported flood victims in Phrae and Nan with 200,000 THB.
8. Report on the Thai-Cambodian border situation, with the impacts forcing the closure of all border checkpoints and halting border trade activities. Residents in the at-risk areas had to evacuate to shelters for safety, leading to labor shortages in the affected areas covering four provinces: Buriram, Si Sa Ket, Surin, and Ubon Ratchathani, totaling 16 districts. The Eastern Industrial Council has also provided assistance in several provinces, including Mukdahan, Sakon Nakhon, Yasothon, and Nakhon Ratchasima. 
9. Measures related to climate change and the actions of climate change institutions, including progress on the draft Climate Change Act B.E. ....
10. Contributions to the Labour Welfare Fund, where FTI has proposed that the Ministry of Labour consider postponing the enforcement of the contribution to the Labour Welfare Fund law by an additional two years to allow companies to adjust to the economic situation. The law stipulates that employers and employees must pay contributions of 0.25% each starting from October 1, 2025, increasing to 0.5% from October 1, 2030, onwards. A ceiling on wages similar to social security contributions is also requested to reduce the burden on both employers and employees.
11. Promotion of Competitiveness & Compliance for operators in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry to enhance the competitive capabilities of Thai operators through Knowledge Sharing, Early Warning Systems, and Big Data, along with the creation of "Industrial Clinics" as pilot projects and promoting the recruitment of new members.
12. Progress on addressing the grievances of industry groups and provincial industrial councils/industrial clusters, including:
 – Complaints regarding renewal fees and increased electrical security deposits.
 – Establishment of a rail transport industry cluster.
 – Press release on cooperation to promote Thailand's health economy between the Ministry of Public Health and the Federation of Thai Industries.
13. Joint expression of intent for sustainable industrial waste management at the Eco Innovation Forum 2025.
14. Summary of the operation of the Young FTI Program, Class 11.
15. Summary of market opening activities and exploration of trade-investment channels between Thailand, Malaysia, and Brunei.
16. Promotion of the Water Leadership Course, Class 10.

The attendees expressed congratulations to Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, President of FTI, on his appointment as a “Distinguished Board Member of the National Intellectual Property Policy Committee” of the Department of Intellectual Property, and also congratulated Mr. Chuwit Cheungthanasombun, Executive Board Member of FTI, for receiving the Honorary Award for “Outstanding Company of the Year 2025 in the Agriculture Business Category” at the Money & Banking Awards. Additionally, Dr. Putthiwong Uamhaechai, the new Director of Member Relations, Activities, and Income, was introduced.

Before the meeting commenced, a ceremony was held to present additional support funds for the Employee Health Check Project for the year 2024 to FTI under the operations of the Member Relations Division, amounting to 436,650 THB, allocated to regional industrial councils and the industrial promotion and support divisions, as follows:
– Industrial Support and Promotion Division: 45,122 THB
– Central Industrial Council: 203,928 THB
– Southern Industrial Council: 83,634 THB
– Eastern Industrial Council: 53,858 THB
– Northern Industrial Council: 27,426 THB
– Northeastern Industrial Council: 22,682 THB
