เมื่อวันที่ 6 สิงหาคม 2568 นายอรินทร์ จิรา รองประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) พร้อมด้วยนายชาติชาย พานิชชีวะ รองประธาน ส.อ.ท. และผู้แทนจากคณะกรรมการร่วมภาคเอกชน 3 สถาบัน (กกร.) เข้าร่วมงานรับประทานอาหารกลางวันกับผู้แทนจากสถานเอกอัครราชทูตออสเตรเลีย โดยมี ดร. แอนเจลา แมคโดนัลด์ (Dr. Angela Macdonald PSM) เอกอัครราชทูตออสเตรเลียประจำประเทศไทย ให้เกียรติเป็นเจ้าภาพ ณ ทำเนียบเอกอัครราชทูต
ในการพบปะครั้งนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือถึงแนวทางส่งเสริมความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจ โดยเฉพาะในด้านการค้าและการลงทุนระหว่างไทยและออสเตรเลีย พร้อมแลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองจากภาคเอกชนเกี่ยวกับโอกาสในอุตสาหกรรมที่ออสเตรเลียมีศักยภาพสูง เช่น ผลิตภัณฑ์จากสัตว์ นม และผลิตภัณฑ์จากนม
นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการพูดคุยถึงสถานการณ์ภูมิรัฐศาสตร์โลกที่อาจส่งผลต่อเศรษฐกิจการค้าในภูมิภาค โดยในปี 2568 นี้ นับเป็นวาระครบรอบ 20 ปีของความตกลงการค้าเสรี (FTA) ไทย–ออสเตรเลีย ซึ่งถือเป็นกลไกสำคัญที่ช่วยผลักดันการเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจของทั้งสองประเทศ ภาคเอกชนไทยยืนยันความพร้อมในการสนับสนุนความร่วมมือครั้งนี้ให้แน่นแฟ้น ยั่งยืน และตอบโจทย์ความเปลี่ยนแปลงในอนาคต
On August 6, 2025, Mr. Arin Jira, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), together with Mr. Chatchai Panichwattanakij, Vice Chairman of the FTI, and representatives from the Joint Private Sector Committee of three organizations (JCC), attended a luncheon with representatives from the Australian Embassy, hosted by Dr. Angela Macdonald PSM, the Australian Ambassador to Thailand, at the Ambassador's residence.
During this meeting, both parties discussed ways to promote economic cooperation, particularly in trade and investment between Thailand and Australia, exchanging perspectives from the private sector on opportunities in high-potential Australian industries, such as animal products, dairy, and dairy products.
Additionally, discussions were held regarding the global geopolitical situation that may affect trade economics in the region. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Thailand-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which serves as an important mechanism to drive economic growth in both countries. The Thai private sector affirmed its readiness to support this cooperation to be strong, sustainable, and responsive to future changes.
