เมื่อวันที่ 14 กรกฎาคม 2569 ดร. ภก. นิลสุวรรณ ลีลารัศมี รองประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) พร้อมด้วยนางสาวยุพิน บุญศิริจันทร์ กรรมการบริหาร ส.อ.ท. เข้าร่วมงานเลี้ยงรับรองและมอบกระเช้าดอกไม้แสดงความยินดีแก่ H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐฝรั่งเศสประจำประเทศไทย เนื่องในโอกาสวันชาติสาธารณรัฐฝรั่งเศส โดยได้รับเกียรติจากนายอนุทิน ชาญวีรกูล นายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงมหาดไทย ร่วมกล่าวแสดงความยินดี ณ โรงแรมอีสติน แกรนด์ พญาไท
ประเทศไทยถือเป็นพันธมิตรที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดของฝรั่งเศสในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างทั้งสองประเทศเริ่มต้นขึ้นตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2228 เมื่อพระเจ้าหลุยส์ที่ 14 ทรงส่งคณะราชทูตเข้าเฝ้าสมเด็จพระนารายณ์มหาราชเพื่อสถาปนาความสัมพันธ์ฉันมิตร ก่อนที่จะมีการสถาปนาความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตอย่างเป็นทางการผ่านการลงนามในสนธิสัญญาทางพระราชไมตรี การค้า และการเดินเรือระหว่างสยามกับฝรั่งเศสในปี พ.ศ. 2399 พร้อมกับการจัดตั้งสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฝรั่งเศสประจำประเทศไทยในปีเดียวกัน
นับแต่นั้น ทั้งสองประเทศได้พัฒนาความร่วมมืออย่างต่อเนื่องในหลากหลายสาขา ทั้งด้านการเมือง เศรษฐกิจ การค้า การลงทุน การศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ เทคโนโลยี และสิ่งแวดล้อม
ในปี พ.ศ. 2569 ความสัมพันธ์ทวิภาคีได้ก้าวสู่หมุดหมายสำคัญอีกครั้ง เมื่อพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวและสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินี พร้อมด้วยสมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าสิริวัณณวรี นารีรัตนราชกัญญา เสด็จพระราชดำเนินเยือนสาธารณรัฐฝรั่งเศสอย่างเป็นทางการ ระหว่างวันที่ 28 มิถุนายน–2 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2569 ตามคำกราบบังคมทูลเชิญของประธานาธิบดีแห่งสาธารณรัฐฝรั่งเศส ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงความสัมพันธ์อันใกล้ชิดและมิตรภาพอันยั่งยืนระหว่างสองประเทศ
นอกจากนี้ ในด้านเศรษฐกิจ ฝรั่งเศสยังคงเป็นหุ้นส่วนสำคัญของไทย โดยมีบทบาทสนับสนุนการผลักดันการเจรจาความตกลงการค้าเสรีไทย–สหภาพยุโรป (Thailand–EU FTA) และการสมัครเข้าเป็นสมาชิกองค์การเพื่อความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจและการพัฒนา (OECD) ของไทย
ความร่วมมือดังกล่าวจะเป็นกลไกสำคัญในการยกระดับขีดความสามารถทางเศรษฐกิจ ขยายโอกาสด้านการค้าและการลงทุน ตลอดจนเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจและสังคมระหว่างไทยและฝรั่งเศสให้มีความเข้มแข็งและยั่งยืนยิ่งขึ้นในอนาคต
On July 14, 2026, Dr. Phak Nilsuwanna Leelarasamee, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), together with Ms. Yupin Boonsirichan, Executive Committee Member of FTI, attended a reception and presented a flower basket to congratulate H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Ambassador of the French Republic to Thailand, on the occasion of Bastille Day. They were honored by the presence of Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who also extended his congratulations at the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai.
Thailand is the oldest ally of France in Southeast Asia. The relationship between the two countries dates back to 1685 when King Louis XIV sent a diplomatic mission to meet with King Narai the Great to establish friendly relations, before officially establishing diplomatic relations through the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Trade, and Navigation between Siam and France in 1856, along with the establishment of the French Embassy in Thailand in the same year.
Since then, both countries have continuously developed cooperation in various fields, including politics, economics, trade, investment, education, science, technology, and the environment.
In 2026, the bilateral relationship reached another significant milestone when His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen, along with Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, made an official visit to the French Republic from June 28 to July 2, 2026, at the invitation of the President of the French Republic. This visit reflected the close relationship and enduring friendship between the two countries.
Additionally, in the economic sphere, France remains an important partner for Thailand, playing a significant role in supporting the negotiation of the Thailand-European Union Free Trade Agreement (Thailand–EU FTA) and Thailand's application for membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
This cooperation will be an essential mechanism for enhancing economic capabilities, expanding trade and investment opportunities, as well as strengthening economic and social cooperation between Thailand and France to be stronger and more sustainable in the future.
