On October 8-9, 2025, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), through the Small and Medium Enterprises Institute (SMI), conducted a workshop training course titled “Smart SMEs Go Digital & AI: Think Fast, Act Now, Compete Effectively” - Batch 1. The training was attended by SMEs in the manufacturing sector who engaged intensively to learn and apply Generative AI (Gen AI) to enhance efficiency and reduce costs in the digital era at the Diamond Room, Avani Bangkok Hotel.
The event was honored by Mr. Apichit Prasoprat, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and President of the Small and Medium Enterprises Institute (SMI), who discussed the background of the course that addresses the needs of entrepreneurs requiring readily available and easily accessible tools to enable them to “think fast” and take action with practical Use Cases, thus allowing them to be “ready to compete” in the global market. This aligns with the “4GO” policy, which is an essential guideline of the FTI, comprising Go Digital & AI, Go Innovation, Go Global, and Go Green, to promote the development of Thai entrepreneurs' potential for sustainable competitiveness.
This course featured esteemed speakers, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Danupol Hunsophon, Assistant to the President of Chulalongkorn University and Director of the Academic and Training Services Center (Chulalongkorn Business School – CBS), and Prof. Dr. Wathan Viriyasitthawat, Assistant Dean for Research and Head of the Master's Degree Program in Business Software Development, who graciously lectured in this course.
Additionally, the SMI Institute Board, including Dr. Saranan Jiwasuryath, Vice Chairman of the SMI Institute, attended to listen to the lectures and provide close consultation.
The two-day training focused on building skills and understanding for SMEs to use Gen AI as a “thinking partner–advisor” to increase productivity and enhance competitive capabilities. Participants learned from the basics to practical applications in their daily business operations, emphasizing hands-on practice, creating Use Cases in their business, and supplemented with Group Pitching activities for participants to present their methods of utilizing Gen AI in their businesses.
Furthermore, the SMI Institute of the Federation of Thai Industries is preparing to hold this training course for two more batches to support SMEs in developing digital and AI skills, aiming for a broad impact.
