ประธาน ส.อ.ท. เข้าร่วมเสวนา “ก้าวข้ามโลกเก่า ด้วยโมเดลใหม่ในการพัฒนาประเทศ”President of FTI Participates in the Seminar “Transcending the Old World with a New Model for National Development”

On November 17, 2025, Mr. Kriangkrai Thiennukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), participated in the annual public seminar of the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI) under the theme “Reimagining Thailand’s Development Model: Transcending the Old World with a New Model for National Development.” He presented perspectives on the development of the Thai economy in the new era, covering drivers of growth, industrial policy, trade and investment, skill development, and the role of the state, including the issue of opening government procurement markets under the Thailand-European Union Free Trade Agreement at Samyan Mitrtown Hall.

The event was honored by Dr. Wirath Santiprapob, Chairman of TDRI, who delivered the opening remarks, and Dr. Aekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Finance, who gave a keynote speech on driving the structure of the Thai economy.

Additionally, Dr. Somkiat Tangkitvanit, Chairman of TDRI, presented that the Thai economy is growing at a lower rate than regional countries, household debt remains high, and the ratio of wages to GDP continues to decline, which may pose risks to the expansion of gray businesses if quality jobs cannot be created. He pointed out that current economic stimulus measures are insufficient and emphasized the need to accelerate adjustments in manufacturing policies, as key engines such as exports, tourism, and industry face labor constraints, reduced public investment budgets, regulatory barriers, and a low level of research and development investment, all of which are critical challenges in the era of “reverse globalization,” where competition and trade protection measures are intensifying.
