On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Mr. Surapong Paisitpatranapong, advisor to the Chairman of the Automotive Industry Group and spokesperson for the Automotive Industry Group of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), disclosed the production, domestic sales, and export figures for automobiles and motorcycles in February 2026. The total number of vehicles produced was 117,952 units, a decrease of 0.37% from January 2026, but an increase of 3.43% from February 2025. This increase was attributed to a 22.83% rise in passenger car production for export and a 55.98% rise in pickup truck production for domestic sale.

In February 2026, domestic car sales amounted to 48,242 units, a 34.75% decrease from January 2026 and a 2.17% decrease from February 2025. This decline was largely due to an 18.56% drop in electric vehicle sales compared to the same month in the previous year, following the conclusion of the EV 3.0 project, along with decreased sales of pickup trucks and combustion engine cars due to stricter lending practices from financial institutions.

Sales
In February 2026, domestic car sales totaled 48,242 units, a decrease of 34.75% from January 2026 and a decrease of 2.17% from February 2025. The decline is attributed to an 18.56% drop in electric vehicle sales compared to the same month in the previous year, following the conclusion of the EV 3.0 program, along with reduced sales of pickup trucks and combustion engine passenger cars due to tighter lending standards from financial institutions amid low economic growth, weak purchasing power, and uncertainties regarding the new government's policies. Ongoing conflicts involving the United States, Israel, and Iran have raised concerns regarding exports of automobiles, motorcycles, and automotive parts, further exacerbated by rising energy prices leading to inflation in Thailand and globally, which could impact an already weak purchasing power. Analysts project Thai economic growth of around 1.2%, which may affect domestic sales of automobiles and motorcycles.
