เมื่อวันที่ 25 มีนาคม 2569 นายเกรียงไกร เธียรนุกุล ประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) พร้อมด้วยนายวิเชาวน์ รักพงษ์ไพโรจน์ รองประธาน ส.อ.ท. และประธานสายงานต่างประเทศ และนางบัญชุสา พุทธพรมงคล กรรมการ ส.อ.ท. และกรรมการสายงานต่างประเทศ ร่วมให้การต้อนรับ H.E. Mr. Alexander Micovčin เอกอัครราชทูตแห่งสาธารณรัฐสโลวาเกียประจำประเทศไทย ณ ห้องมงคลสุธี สภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย
ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือถึงแนวทางความร่วมมือด้านเศรษฐกิจและอุตสาหกรรม โดยเห็นพ้องว่าประเทศไทยและสาธารณรัฐสโลวาเกียต่างเป็นฐานการผลิตอุตสาหกรรมยานยนต์ที่สำคัญของภูมิภาค มีห่วงโซ่อุปทานที่เข้มแข็ง และพึ่งพาการส่งออกเป็นกลไกหลักในการขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจ อีกทั้งภาครัฐและภาคเอกชนของทั้งสองประเทศให้ความสำคัญกับการประยุกต์ใช้เทคโนโลยีดิจิทัลและปัญญาประดิษฐ์ เพื่อยกระดับภาคอุตสาหกรรมและเสริมสร้างขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันในระยะยาว
ในโอกาสนี้ ฝ่ายสโลวาเกียได้เน้นย้ำถึงความสำคัญของการส่งเสริมการผลิตพลังงานสะอาด อาทิ พลังงานน้ำและพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์ รวมถึงการบริหารจัดการของเหลือจากภาคเกษตรกรรม เพื่อนำมาใช้ในการผลิตพลังงานชีวภาพ เพื่อบรรเทาผลกระทบจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ และเสริมสร้างความมั่นคงด้านพลังงาน
นอกจากนี้ ฝ่ายสโลวาเกียยังแสดงการสนับสนุนประเทศไทยในการเดินหน้าเจรจาความตกลงการค้าเสรีกับสหภาพยุโรป ตลอดจนการสมัครเข้าเป็นสมาชิก OECD พร้อมทั้งยินดีแบ่งปันประสบการณ์และให้การสนับสนุนในกระบวนการดังกล่าว
ทั้งนี้ สาธารณรัฐสโลวาเกียได้สถาปนาความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตกับประเทศไทยเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 1993 ภายหลังการแยกตัวออกจากเชโกสโลวาเกีย โดยทั้งสองประเทศมีความสัมพันธ์ทางเศรษฐกิจและการค้าที่ต่อเนื่อง และมีการนำเข้า–ส่งออกสินค้าระหว่างกันในหลากหลายรายการ อาทิ เครื่องจักรกล อุปกรณ์อิเล็กทรอนิกส์ และชิ้นส่วนยานยนต์ ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงศักยภาพความร่วมมือทางอุตสาหกรรมที่สามารถต่อยอดได้ในอนาคต
On March 25, 2026, Mr. Kriangkrai Tiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), along with Mr. Vichawane Rukphongphairoj, Vice Chairman of FTI and Chairman of the International Affairs Committee, and Mrs. Banchusa Butthapromkhun, FTI Board Member and International Affairs Committee Member, welcomed H.E. Mr. Alexander Micovčin, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Thailand at the Mongkolsuthee room, Federation of Thai Industries.
Both parties discussed ways to enhance economic and industrial cooperation, agreeing that Thailand and the Slovak Republic are significant automotive manufacturing bases in the region, with strong supply chains and reliance on exports as a key mechanism for driving economic growth. Additionally, governments and private sectors of both countries emphasize the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence to elevate the industrial sector and strengthen long-term competitiveness.
On this occasion, the Slovak side highlighted the importance of promoting clean energy production, such as hydropower and solar energy, along with managing agricultural waste to be used in biomass energy production, aiming to mitigate the impacts of climate change and enhance energy security.
Furthermore, the Slovak side expressed support for Thailand's pursuit of a free trade agreement with the European Union, as well as its application for OECD membership, being willing to share experiences and provide support in this process.
The Slovak Republic established diplomatic relations with Thailand in 1993 following its separation from Czechoslovakia. Both countries have sustained economic and trade relations, with various imports and exports between them, including machinery, electronic equipment, and automotive parts, reflecting the potential for further industrial cooperation in the future.
