เมื่อวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 21 พฤษภาคม 2569 นายปณิธาน ปวโรฬารวิทยา เลขาธิการสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) พร้อมด้วยนางสาวยุพิน บุญศิริจันทร์ กรรมการบริหาร ส.อ.ท. นายสุนทร ยงค์วิบูลศิริ ประธานกลุ่มอุตสาหกรรมเยื่อและกระดาษ ดร.ทองดี ปาโส ประธานกลุ่มอุตสาหกรรมอาหารและเครื่องดื่ม และนายพาชัย จันทร์พิทักษ์ รองประธานกลุ่มอุตสาหกรรมอาหารและเครื่องดื่ม ส.อ.ท. เข้าร่วมงานเลี้ยงรับรองเพื่อแสดงความยินดีกับ H.E. Mrs. Luisa Ragher เอกอัครราชทูตสหภาพยุโรปประจำประเทศไทย เนื่องในโอกาสวันสถาปนาสหภาพยุโรป โดยได้รับเกียรติจากนายสีหศักดิ์ พวงเกตุแก้ว รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ กล่าวแสดงความยินดี ณ โรงแรมสยาม เคมปินสกี้ กรุงเทพฯ (Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok)
ทั้งนี้ ประเทศไทยและสหภาพยุโรป ได้สถาปนาความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตอย่างเป็นทางการเมื่อวันที่ 28 สิงหาคม 2505 และได้จัดตั้งคณะผู้แทนประจำประเทศคู่ภาคีระหว่างกัน โดยสำนักงานคณะผู้แทนคณะกรรมาธิการประชาคมยุโรปประจำกรุงเทพฯ ซึ่งจัดตั้งขึ้นเมื่อปี 2521 ถือเป็นคณะผู้แทนแห่งแรกของสหภาพยุโรปในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ สะท้อนถึงความสำคัญของประเทศไทยในฐานะหุ้นส่วนสำคัญของสหภาพยุโรปในภูมิภาค
ตลอดระยะเวลาที่ผ่านมา ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไทยและสหภาพยุโรปได้พัฒนาอย่างใกล้ชิดและต่อเนื่อง ครอบคลุมความร่วมมือในหลากหลายมิติ อาทิ ด้านเศรษฐกิจ การค้า การลงทุน วัฒนธรรม สิ่งแวดล้อม และการศึกษา โดยปัจจุบัน การเจรจาความตกลงการค้าเสรีไทย–สหภาพยุโรป (EU–Thailand FTA) ถือเป็นวาระสำคัญที่ทั้งสองฝ่ายให้ความสำคัญและเร่งผลักดันให้บรรลุผลสำเร็จ เพื่อเป็นกลไกสำคัญในการส่งเสริมและขยายโอกาสทางการค้า การลงทุน ตลอดจนยกระดับความร่วมมือด้านเทคโนโลยี นวัตกรรม และการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนระหว่างไทยกับประเทศสมาชิกสหภาพยุโรปในอนาคต
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, Mr. Panithan Pavarolnawit, Secretary-General of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), along with Ms. Yupin Boonsirijanjah, Executive Board Member of FTI, Mr. Sunthorn Yongwibulsiri, Chairman of the Pulp and Paper Industry Group, Dr. Thongdee Paso, Chairman of the Food and Beverage Industry Group, and Mr. Pachai Janthapitak, Vice Chairman of the Food and Beverage Industry Group of FTI, attended a reception to congratulate H.E. Mrs. Luisa Ragher, Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand, on the occasion of the anniversary of the European Union. The event was honored by Mr. Siri Sakkha Puangketkaew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, who delivered congratulatory remarks at the Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok.
Thailand and the European Union officially established diplomatic relations on August 28, 1962, and have set up resident missions between the partner countries. The Office of the European Commission's Delegation in Bangkok, established in 1978, is regarded as the first EU representation in Southeast Asia, reflecting Thailand's significance as a key partner of the EU in the region.
Over the years, the relationship between Thailand and the European Union has developed closely and continuously, covering various dimensions of cooperation such as economic matters, trade, investment, culture, environment, and education. Currently, negotiations on the Thailand-European Union Free Trade Agreement (EU-Thailand FTA) are a significant agenda that both parties prioritize and accelerate to achieve success, serving as an important mechanism to promote and expand trade and investment opportunities, as well as enhancing cooperation in technology, innovation, and sustainable development between Thailand and EU member countries in the future.
