The total number of vehicles produced from January to April 2026 was 473,545 units, an increase of 4% compared to the same period in 2025.

The total number of vehicles produced in April 2026 was 103,794 units, a decrease of 22.20% from March 2026 and a drop of 0.44% from April 2025. This decline resulted from a 1.70% reduction in production for domestic sales, as production of both internal combustion engine and electric vehicles combined fell by 16.77% compared to April of the previous year.
Nonetheless, the decrease in pickup truck production for export due to the conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz may result in exports falling short of targets if the conflict persists for more than three months.
The total vehicle production from January to April 2026 reached 473,545 units, an increase of 4% compared to the same period in 2025.

In April 2026, a total of 181,539 motorcycles were produced, down 4.22% from April 2025. This included complete built motorcycles (CBU) totaling 146,306, a decrease of 6.87% compared to 2025, and motorcycle components (CKD) at 35,233 units, an increase of 8.56% over the same period in 2025.
Motorcycle production from January to April 2026 totaled 817,426 units, down 4.29% from 2025, consisting of complete built motorcycles (CBU) at 649,233, a decline of 5.71%, alongside motorcycle components (CKD) totaling 168,193 units, an increase of 1.64% over the same period in 2025.

Sales
Domestic car sales in April 2026 totaled 48,394 units, a decrease of 19.16% from March 2026 but an increase of 2.54% compared to April 2025. This increase stemmed from electric vehicle deliveries that accounted for more than half of total bookings during the Bangkok International Motor Show held from late March to early April, driven by a significant rise in oil prices due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, along with the launch of new models and the commencement of truck production by a company relocating its facilities. Sales of pickups, on the other hand, continued to decline by 9.7% compared to the same month last year due to tightened lending by financial institutions resulting from weak economic conditions and low industrial production indices in the country. Investment and employment levels remain concerning, affecting consumer purchasing power. The global economy also faces risks from international conflicts and trade wars. However, with domestic economic growth projected at 2.8% for the first quarter of 2026 and various investment projects approved by the Board of Investment, it is hoped to create jobs and boost economic growth if investments materialize this year. Additionally, a government loan of 400 billion baht is expected to reduce energy imports and enhance investment to increase employment in Thailand. An immediate concern is the adjustment of prices for various components attributed to the Middle Eastern conflict, which may adversely impact both sales and production levels of automobiles.

Passenger cars and passenger inspection vehicles totaled 33,654 units, accounting for 69.54% of total sales, representing a 9.07% increase compared to the same month last year:
• Internal Combustion Engine passenger and inspection vehicles numbered 7,109 units, accounting for 14.69% of total sales, down from 35.18% in the same month last year.
• Battery Electric Vehicle passenger and inspection vehicles totaled 13,882 units, or 28.69% of total sales, reflecting an increase from 27.35% last year.

• Internal Combustion Engine passenger and inspection vehicles amounted to 37,957 units, comprising 16.47% of total sales, reflecting a decline from 21.54% last year.

In April 2026, the export of complete vehicles recorded 60,190 units, down 25.13% from the previous month and down 8.43% from April 2025. This remarkable decrease is attributed to a sharp decline in vehicle exports to the Middle Eastern market by 993 units, representing an astounding drop of 11,053 vehicles or 91.76% from April 2025, due to the war between the United States and Israel with Iran, leading to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Exports to Europe, Central America, and South America also saw declines. However, there was an increase in automobile exports to Asia, Australia, and Oceania, capturing a substantial market share of 26.36% and 31.23% respectively. There was also an increase in exports to Africa and North America, which mitigated some decline in overall vehicle exports. Exports in April 2026 are as follows:

• ICE passenger cars were exported at 2,031 units, accounting for 3.37% of total exports, down 75% from 2025.
• BEV passenger cars totaled 1,924 units, representing 3.20% of total exports, reflecting an increase of 191.52% from last year.
• PHEV passenger cars amounted to 358 units, accounting for 0.59% of total exports, with none exported in 2025.
