FTI monitors the SME plan for 2027 emphasizing “Data must reach – Measures must be targeted” to unlock sustainable business growth.
FTI indicates that the direction for promoting SMEs in 2027 must shift from broad support to using “in-depth data” to design measures that align more closely with the problems and needs of entrepreneurs, especially during a time when SMEs must cope with both economic changes, technology, and increasing competition.
Therefore, the core issue is not merely having numerous projects or funding sources, but connecting information, policies, knowledge, technology, and support measures to reach entrepreneurs effectively. This will help SMEs utilize these tools to increase productivity, reduce costs, develop businesses, and create new opportunities in a tangible manner.
[Using Data to Design Measures That Address SME Needs]
On September 8, 2026, Mr. Somphop Teerasarn, a board member of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), attended the press conference “OSMEP’s Strategy to Drive SMEs in 2027 to Unlock Opportunities for Sustainable Growth,” organized by the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) at Phra Phrom Room, 3rd Floor, Astawin Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok.
During the event, Mr. Naphin Sripraphang, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, discussed the situation and trends of Thai SMEs, as well as the direction and plan for promoting entrepreneurs in 2027, emphasizing the need to enhance the capabilities of SMEs to adapt to changes while utilizing in-depth data for policy formulation and support measures.
Additionally, there was a forum titled “Voices from Partner Networks Integrating Data and Strategic Plans to Transform Thai SMEs for Sustainable Growth,” which provided insights from the government, private sector, and entrepreneurs, and shared experiences and success factors of SMEs as guidelines for further business development.
[Connecting the Ecosystem for SMEs to Access Real Opportunities]
For FTI, the insights gathered from this direction will be crucial in guiding their efforts in promoting SMEs, particularly in linking entrepreneurs with knowledge, technology, funding sources, markets, and related networks.
FTI will collaborate with government agencies and partner networks to push for a more integrated support system for SMEs, transforming from “having tools” to “accessible and practical tools,” enabling Thai entrepreneurs to enhance their competitiveness and grow sustainably and robustly by 2027.
