FTI is actively supporting the adjustment of the country’s investment promotion direction, focusing on investment benefits, including increasing the value of domestic raw materials, linking Thai entrepreneurs to the supply chain, creating high-skill jobs, research and development, as well as technology transfer.
On September 11, 2026, Mr. Suwatch Supakarnpetchakul, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), attended the 5th Investment Promotion Committee meeting, chaired by Mr. Aekniti Nitiprapha, Deputy Prime Minister, alongside Mr. Narutthamon Terdsatirak, Secretary-General of the Board of Investment (BOI), at Meeting Room CA426, Parliament Building.
The discussions focused on strategies to adjust the investment promotion direction, elevating the role of the BOI in driving the country’s economic restructuring, with an emphasis on the real value generated from investments and promoting genuine investments that benefit Thailand in concrete terms.
This approach emphasizes the added value from domestic raw materials, connecting Thai entrepreneurs into the supply chain, creating high-skill jobs, promoting research and development, as well as technology transfer to enhance the competitiveness of the Thai industrial sector.
Moreover, there is a focus on establishing an investment promotion direction that aligns with global market trends, the strategic importance to the country's economy, and the strengths and potentials of Thailand, aiming to promote industries that present opportunities for the country and strengthen the future industrial base.
At the same time, it will consider reducing promotion in activities that have low added value or do not substantially benefit the country.
Another important issue is the “BOI to IPO” initiative, which is a collaboration between the BOI, the Stock Exchange of Thailand, and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to support capable companies, especially from the new economy sector, to access the Thai capital market and raise funds to expand investment in Thailand while enhancing the corporate governance and management.
In addition, the BOI is advancing the Thailand FastPass mechanism to expedite the approval process and issuance of licenses related to major investment projects.
Currently, 25 strategic industry projects have entered the Thailand FastPass mechanism and have been approved for promotion from 23 companies to expedite real investment, including job creation, domestic materials and parts usage, technology transfer, and enhancing the competitiveness of the Thai industry.
