เมื่อวันที่ 7 สิงหาคม 2569 นายเวทิต โชควัฒนา รองประธานอาวุโส สภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) เข้าร่วมเป็นวิทยากรในงานเสวนาวิชาการ เนื่องในโอกาสวันอาเซียน หัวข้อ “ASEAN at a Crossroads: สู่การเป็นประธานอาเซียนของไทยในปี 2571” เพื่อร่วมสะท้อนมุมมองและความคาดหวังของภาคเอกชน สำหรับประกอบการกำหนดทิศทางและประเด็นสำคัญที่ไทยควรผลักดันในการเตรียมความพร้อมสู่การเป็นประธานอาเซียนในปี 2571 ณ ห้องนราธิป กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ
สำหรับประเด็นด้านเศรษฐกิจและภาคธุรกิจ ผู้แทน ส.อ.ท. ได้เสนอให้อาเซียนรักษาความเป็นกลางและความเป็นเอกภาพ เพื่อเพิ่มอำนาจต่อรองท่ามกลางการแข่งขันของมหาอำนาจ พร้อมผลักดันการวางยุทธศาสตร์การผลิตร่วมกันของอาเซียน (Unified Manufacturing Strategy) โดยเชื่อมโยงการลงทุนตามศักยภาพและทรัพยากรของแต่ละประเทศ เพื่อลดการแข่งขันกันเองและสร้างห่วงโซ่อุปทานของภูมิภาคให้เข้มแข็ง รวมถึงเร่งส่งเสริมการเคลื่อนย้ายบุคลากรที่มีทักษะ (Talent Mobility) ในสาขาอุตสาหกรรมใหม่ เช่น AI และ Semiconductor และส่งเสริมบทบาทภาครัฐในการเป็นศูนย์กลางข้อมูลด้านการผลิต เพื่อสนับสนุนการเชื่อมโยงห่วงโซ่อุปทานของอาเซียน
นอกจากนี้ การเสวนายังครอบคลุมประเด็นสำคัญต่ออนาคตของอาเซียน ทั้งความท้าทายทางภูมิรัฐศาสตร์และการแข่งขันของมหาอำนาจ การเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านเทคโนโลยี ความยั่งยืนและการรับมือกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ ตลอดจนการลดความเหลื่อมล้ำและการสร้างความเข้มแข็งให้แก่กลุ่มเปราะบาง เพื่อรวบรวมมุมมองจากภาคส่วนต่าง ๆ และนำไปสู่การกำหนดประเด็นสำคัญและหัวข้อหลักสำหรับการเป็นประธานอาเซียนของไทยในปี 2571 ต่อไป
On August 7, 2026, Mr. Wuttiphan Chokwatana, Senior Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), participated as a speaker in an academic seminar on the occasion of ASEAN Day, titled “ASEAN at a Crossroads: Towards Thailand's ASEAN Chairmanship in 2028.” The seminar aimed to share perspectives and expectations from the private sector to inform the direction and key issues Thailand should advance in preparation for its ASEAN chairmanship in 2028 at the Narathip Room, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Regarding economic and business issues, the FTI representative proposed that ASEAN maintain neutrality and unity to enhance bargaining power amid great power competition. Additionally, it was suggested to push for the establishment of a Unified Manufacturing Strategy by connecting investments according to each country's potential and resources to reduce internal competition and strengthen the regional supply chain. Furthermore, an emphasis was placed on accelerating the mobility of skilled talents in emerging industries such as AI and Semiconductor, as well as promoting the government's role as a central hub for production data to support the linkage of the ASEAN supply chain.
The seminar also covered key issues regarding ASEAN's future, including geopolitical challenges and great power competition, technological changes, sustainability, and addressing climate change. It further discussed reducing inequalities and strengthening vulnerable groups, aiming to gather insights from various sectors and lay the groundwork for the essential topics and key issues for Thailand's ASEAN chairmanship in 2028.
