วันที่ 23 มกราคม 2567 นายเกรียงไกร เธียรนุกุล ประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) พร้อมด้วยรองประธาน ส.อ.ท. นายอรินทร์ จิรา ดร.ภก. นิลสุวรรณ ลีลารัศมี และ ดร.วิบูลย์ รักสาสน์เจริญผล รองเลขาธิการ ส.อ.ท. ให้การต้อนรับ H.E. Mr. Pedro Zwahlen เอกอัครราชทูตสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ประจำประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วยคณะฯ เนื่องในโอกาสเข้ารับตำแหน่งใหม่ พร้อมทั้งหารือความเห็นของภาคเอกชนไทยต่อโครงการแลนด์บริดจ์ และการสนับสนุนการจัดทำความตกลงเขตการค้าเสรีไทย-EFTA เพื่อส่งเสริมการค้าการลงทุนระหว่างกัน ณ ส.อ.ท.
ไทยและสวิตเซอร์แลนด์มีความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตระหว่างกันยาวนานกว่า 93 ปี โดยสวิตเซอร์แลนด์เป็นประเทศคู่ค้าและประเทศที่มีการลงทุนทางตรงที่สำคัญของไทยในกลุ่มสมาคมการค้าเสรียุโรป (European Free Trade Association: EFTA) ซึ่งประกอบด้วยนอร์เวย์ ไอซ์แลนด์ ลิกเตนสไตน์ และสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ ปัจจุบันประเทศไทยอยู่ระหว่างการเจรจาการจัดทำความตกลงเขตการค้าเสรีกับสมาชิก EFTA โดยที่ผ่านมาทั้งสองฝ่ายมีการเจรจาร่วมกันแล้วทั้งหมดรวม 7 ครั้ง และกำหนดให้มีการเจรจาฯ ในปี 2567 อีก 2 ครั้ง โดยตั้งเป้าหมายให้สรุปผลการเจรจาฯ ในช่วงกลางปี 2567
On January 23, 2024, Mr. Kriengkrai Thiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), along with FTI Vice Chairman Mr. Arin Jira, Dr. Phak Nilsuwan Leelaratsamee, and Dr. Wibul Ruksasancharoen, Deputy Secretary-General of FTI, welcomed H.E. Mr. Pedro Zwahlen, the Swiss Ambassador to Thailand, and his delegation on the occasion of his new appointment. Discussions were held regarding the private sector’s views on the Land Bridge project and support for the establishment of the Thailand-EFTA Free Trade Agreement to promote trade and investment between the two parties at FTI.
Thailand and Switzerland have maintained diplomatic relations for over 93 years. Switzerland is a significant trading partner and a source of foreign direct investment for Thailand among the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member countries, which include Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland. Currently, Thailand is in the process of negotiating a Free Trade Agreement with EFTA members. To date, both parties have conducted a total of 7 negotiation rounds, with 2 additional rounds scheduled for 2024, aiming to conclude the negotiations by mid-2024.
