เมื่อวันที่ 21 มีนาคม 2567 นายเกรียงไกร เธียรนุกุล ประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) พร้อมด้วยรองประธาน ส.อ.ท. นายอรินทร์ จิรา ดร.นิลสุวรรณ ลีลารัศมี และนายชาติชาย พานิชชีวะ ร่วมให้การต้อนรับ H.E. Mr. Masato OTAKA เอกอัครราชทูตญี่ปุ่นประจำประเทศไทย เนื่องในโอกาสเข้ารับตำแหน่งใหม่ ณ ห้องมงคลสุธี ส.อ.ท.
ส.อ.ท. ได้เน้นย้ำว่าประเทศไทยและญี่ปุ่นมีความสัมพันธ์ที่ยาวนานมากว่า 136 ปี มีการพัฒนาความร่วมมืออย่างต่อเนื่องทั้งในด้านเศรษฐกิจ อุตสาหกรรม สังคม วัฒนธรรม ตลอดจนเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมต่างๆ ตลอดจนมีการลงทุนของบริษัทญี่ปุ่นจำนวนมากในประเทศไทยตลอดหลายปีที่ผ่านมา ส่งผลให้เกิดความเติบโตของภาคอุตสาหกรรมและการถ่ายทอดทางเทคโนโลยี การพัฒนาฝีมือแรงงาน และการจ้างงานเป็นจำนวนมาก
นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองประเทศยังได้ยกระดับสถานะความสัมพันธ์ เป็นหุ้นส่วนทางยุทธศาสตร์อย่างรอบด้าน ซึ่งส่งเสริมให้ภาคอุตสาหกรรมทั้งสองประเทศเป็นหุ้นส่วนร่วมกันมากขึ้น โดยเฉพาะการยกระดับเทคโนโลยีอุตสาหกรรมยานยนต์และชิ้นส่วน และอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ เพื่อให้รองรับการเปลี่ยนผ่านสู่รถยนต์สมัยใหม่ (Next Generation Vehicle) อาทิ รถยนต์ไฟฟ้า และรถยนต์ที่ใช้พลังงานไฮโดรเจน เป็นต้น
ทั้งนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือถึงการลงทุนโครงสร้างพื้นฐานขนาดใหญ่ของไทย อาทิ โครงการระเบียงเศรษฐกิจภาคตะวันออก (EEC) และโครงการแลนด์บริดจ์ ซึ่งเป็นโครงการที่รัฐบาลไทยริเริ่มจากโอกาสและศักยภาพของไทย ที่จะเป็นศูนย์กลางการค้าและการขนส่งภูมิภาค และอาจเป็นศูนย์กลางการค้าและการขนส่งอีกแห่งหนึ่งของโลกในอนาคต
On March 21, 2024, Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), along with FTI Vice Chairman Mr. Arinthorn Jira, Dr. Nilsuwan Leelarath, and Mr. Chatchai Panichcheewa, welcomed H.E. Mr. Masato OTAKA, the new Japanese Ambassador to Thailand, at the Mongkolsuthee room of FTI.
FTI emphasized that Thailand and Japan have maintained a long-lasting relationship for over 136 years, with continuous developments in cooperation across economic, industrial, social, cultural, as well as technological and innovative domains. There has also been considerable investment from Japanese companies in Thailand over the years, resulting in growth in the industrial sector, technology transfer, workforce development, and significant job creation.
In addition, both countries have elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, promoting deeper collaboration in their industrial sectors. This includes enhancing the technology of automotive and component industries, as well as electronics, to support the transition to modern vehicles (Next Generation Vehicles), such as electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel vehicles.
Both parties also discussed large infrastructure investments in Thailand, such as the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and the Land Bridge project, which the Thai government initiated to leverage Thailand's potential as a regional trade and transport hub, potentially becoming another global trade and transport center in the future.
