เมื่อวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 13 มิถุนายน 2567 นายวิวรรธน์ เหมมณฑารพ รองประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) ได้รับเกียรติร่วมเสวนาภายในงาน Empowering Trade Leaders: An Evening of Insight, Connection, and Collaboration ซึ่งจัดโดย สถาบันระหว่างประเทศเพื่อการค้าและการพัฒนาร่วมกับ ดร.มีชัย เถาเจริญ ผู้แทน BRICS Alliance Thailand พร้อม Dr. Rupa Chanda ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายการค้า การลงทุน และนวัตกรรม คณะกรรมาธิการเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งสหประชาชาติสำหรับเอเชียและแฟซิฟิก (UNESCAP) และนายพรชัย ประภาวงษ์ เจ้าหน้าที่การค้าระดับชำนาญการ กรมเจรจาการค้าระหว่างประเทศ กระทรวงพาณิชย์ ณ โรงแรมอีสติน แกรนด์ พญาไท
นายวิวรรธน์ ได้นำเสนอปัจจัยเสี่ยงที่ท้าทายเศรษฐกิจและอุตสาหกรรมไทยในปัจจุบัน ได้แก่ GDP ที่เติบโตช้า กำลังซื้อของภาคครัวเรือนที่ลดลงจากปัญหาหนี้ครัวเรือนที่เพิ่มสูงขึ้น และการส่งออกที่เติบโตชะลอลง รวมถึงการที่บริษัทสัญชาติไทยสูญเสียขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันจากตลาดภายในประเทศให้กับบริษัทต่างชาติ
นอกจากนี้ นายวิวรรธน์ ยังได้นำเสนอแนวทางการปรับตัวของภาคอุตสาหกรรม อาทิ การปรับรูปแบบจากการผลิตสินค้าให้กับผู้ซื้อ (Original Equipment Manufacturer : OEM) เป็นการผลิตภายใต้แบรนด์ของผู้ซื้อ (Original Design Manufacturer : ODM) หรือการผลิตภายใต้แบรนด์ของผู้ผลิต (Original Brand Manufacturer : OBM) เพื่อเพิ่มมูลค่าให้กับสินค้า การพัฒนาทักษะฝีมือแรงงานจาก Unskilled Labor ให้เป็น High-Skilled Labor เพื่อเพิ่มผลิตภาพ (Productivity) การนำเทคโนโลยี ดิจิทัล เครื่องจักร และระบบ Automation มาประยุกต์ใช้กับกระบวนการผลิตเพื่อสร้างมูลค่าเพิ่ม (Value-Added) ให้กับสินค้าและบริการ
ทั้งนี้ ภาครัฐควรเร่งการเจรจาข้อตกลงการค้าเสรี (FTA) เพื่อขยายโอกาสทางการค้าให้กับผู้ประกอบการไทย และสนับสนุนนวัตกรรม และเทคโนโลยีใหม่ๆ เพื่อเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันให้กับผู้ประกอบการไทย และมุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจควบคู่ไปกับภาคอุตสาหกรรม พร้อมทั้งยกระดับขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันของประเทศไทยให้ดีขึ้นอย่างยั่งยืนต่อไป
On Thursday, June 13, 2024, Mr. Viwat Hemmantharub, Vice President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), was honored to participate in a panel discussion at the Empowering Trade Leaders: An Evening of Insight, Connection, and Collaboration event organized by the International Institute for Trade and Development in collaboration with Dr. Michai Taocharoen, representative of BRICS Alliance Thailand, along with Dr. Rupa Chanda, Director of Trade, Investment and Innovation at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and Mr. Phonchai Prapawong, Expert Trade Officer at the Department of International Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce, held at the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai.
Mr. Viwat presented the risk factors challenging the Thai economy and industry today, including slow GDP growth, decreased household purchasing power due to rising household debt, and a slowdown in export growth, as well as the loss of competitive ability of Thai companies in the domestic market to foreign companies.
Moreover, Mr. Viwat proposed adaptation strategies for the industrial sector, such as shifting from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) production for buyers to Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) production under the buyer’s brand or Original Brand Manufacturer (OBM) under the manufacturer’s brand to enhance product value, developing workforce skills from Unskilled Labor to High-Skilled Labor to increase productivity, and applying digital technology, machinery, and automation systems in production processes to create added value for products and services.
In addition, the government should expedite free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations to expand trade opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs and support new innovations and technologies to enhance the competitiveness of Thai businesses, while focusing on economic development alongside the industrial sector to sustainably elevate Thailand's competitiveness.
