วันจันทร์ที่ 24 มิถุนายน 2567 นางสาวเพชรรัตน์ เอกแสงกุล รองประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) พร้อมด้วยนายญาณพล ลิมปนะโชคชัย รองเลขาธิการ ส.อ.ท. และ ดร.ทวีสันต์ วิรัชพงศานนท์ กรรมการสายงานต่างประเทศ ร่วมให้การต้อนรับ H.E. Mrs. Betty O. Bigombe เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐยูกันดาประจำประเทศไทย ถิ่นพำนัก ณ กรุงกัวลาลัมเปอร์ เนื่องในโอกาสเข้ารับตำแหน่งใหม่ พร้อมด้วยนายโอฬาร วีรวรรณ กงสุลกิตติมศักดิ์สาธารณรัฐยูกันดาประจำประเทศไทย พร้อมคณะฯ ณ ห้องมงคลสุธี ส.อ.ท.
ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือถึงความร่วมมือระหว่างกัน โดยเฉพาะด้านการเกษตร อาหาร เครื่องจักรกลการเกษตร ตลอดจนเรื่องการจัดทำมาตรฐาน
ทั้งนี้ สาธารณรัฐยูกันดาและประเทศไทยมีความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตกว่า 39 ปี โดยประเทศยูกันดาตั้งอยู่ในภูมิภาคแอฟริกาตะวันออกและเป็นประเทศที่อุดมไปด้วยทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและแร่มากมาย อาทิ แร่ทองแดง และโคบอลต์ โดยสินค้าส่งออกที่สำคัญ ได้แก่ กาแฟ เครื่องเทศ ด้ายและเส้นใย ทั้งนี้ ยูกันดาเป็นประเทศที่มีอัตราการเจริญเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจสูง และเป็นประเทศเป้าหมายในการลงทุนโดยตรงจากต่างประเทศเป็นอันดับต้นๆ ของภูมิภาคอีกด้วย
On Monday, June 24, 2024, Ms. Pechrrath Ekkasangkul, Vice President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), together with Mr. Yanaphol Limpanachokchai, Deputy Secretary-General of FTI, and Dr. Thawisan Virachapongsanon, Foreign Affairs Committee Member, welcomed H.E. Mrs. Betty O. Bigombe, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Thailand, residing in Kuala Lumpur, on the occasion of her assumption of the new position, along with Mr. Olar Viraavan, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Uganda to Thailand, and his delegation at the Mongkolsuthee Room, FTI.
Both parties discussed cooperation between them, particularly in agriculture, food, agricultural machinery, and standardization issues.
The Republic of Uganda and Thailand have maintained diplomatic relations for over 39 years. Uganda, located in the East African region, is endowed with abundant natural resources and minerals, including copper and cobalt. Major export products include coffee, spices, yarn, and fibers. Uganda also boasts a high economic growth rate and is a top destination for foreign direct investment in the region.
