Today (June 22, 2026), Ms. Pimjai Leeissaranukul, Chairperson of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), along with Mr. Panithan Pawarolharwut, Secretary-General of FTI, and Mr. Montree Mahapruetpong, Vice Chairman of FTI, met with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and his delegation during the first meeting of the Joint Public-Private Sector Committee for Economic Problem Solving (JFC) of 2026 to discuss strategies for driving the country forward, with representatives from government agencies, the private sector, and relevant organizations attending the meeting at the Pakdi Bodhin Building, Government House.

The first meeting of the Joint Public-Private Sector Committee for Economic Problem Solving (JFC) of 2026 is a continuation of the earlier discussions between the government and executives from leading conglomerates in mid-May. The establishment of this JFC serves as a key mechanism under the government’s policy aimed at driving Thailand towards sustainable growth, with collaborative objectives between the government and private sector to ensure the continuous development of the economy that aligns with the country's economic conditions and government policies, as well as to promote and support the involvement of the private sector at both central and regional levels in efficiently developing the nation.

The duties and powers of the JFC encompass considerations and recommendations on approaches and measures to the Cabinet for addressing economic problems and obstacles, trade, and investment from the private sector both centrally and regionally, as well as facilitating the private sector's collaboration with the government in fostering sustainable and competitive economic growth.

Mr. Anutin stated that today marks a new signal as we all come together in the JFC, where collaboration between the public and private sectors will lead to a stable and sustainable economy for our country. This meeting presents an important opportunity to exchange opinions and suggestions for economic development that aligns with the country's economic situation and enhances the private sector’s role alongside the government in making the economy more competitive.

Nevertheless, this committee acts like a plus Economic Cabinet, incorporating private sector participation, which is an essential strength for the government. The key issue today is enhancing the country's capabilities, focusing on government policies that require careful economic filtering, whether it concerns industry, agriculture, labor, or trade, where resolutions from this committee can be presented to the Cabinet, thus saving time as the relevant ministers are present at this meeting for expedited consideration.

Therefore, I would like to request cooperation from the private sector and the committee composed of government officials, independent organizations, and government representatives in seeking continuous collaboration and coordination to achieve tangible results, fostering clear changes and propelling the Thai economy forward sustainably.

For this meeting, there was an acknowledgment of the appointment of the Joint Public-Private Sector Committee for Economic Problem Solving (JFC), including a summary of proposals and results from discussions between the Prime Minister and the private sector, along with an overview of Thailand's competitiveness ranking for the year 2026 by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), where Thailand was ranked 26th (an improvement of 4 places from 2025) and remains 3rd among ASEAN countries.

Additionally, key items for consideration at the meeting included strategic mobilization, determining Objectives and Key Results (OKR), with the OKR under the JFC aimed at moving the economy forward by enhancing the country’s competitive capacity, creating new economic engines (New Growth Engine), and improving government efficiency.

Furthermore, the operational grouping under the JFC is divided into important strategic groups to push private sector proposals into practice, covering key issues such as:

1. Establishing new industrial foundations for the country
• Investment
• Infrastructure
• Future industries
• AI / Technology
• Clean energy

2. Promoting trade for SMEs and community economies
• Enhancing SME capabilities
• Promoting Thai products
• Free trade
• Grassroots economy

3. Developing people and innovation
• Education Transformation
• Upskill / Reskill
• Digital Skills
• AI Skills

4. Enhancing government efficiency
• Ease of Doing Business
• Regulatory Reform
• Digital Government

In addition, the committee also considered the establishment of 4 subcommittees including:

1. Subcommittee on Developing New Investments for the Country
(Dr. Eknithi Nitithanprapha serving as Chairperson of the Subcommittee)
2. Subcommittee on Trade Development, Tourism, and Community Economy
(Ms. Supajee Sutthumphan serving as Chairperson of the Subcommittee)
3. Subcommittee on Elevating Human Resources and Technology Development
(Professor Dr. Yotchanan Wong-suwadee serving as Chairperson of the Subcommittee)
4. Subcommittee on Business Facilitation Development
(Mr. Pakorn Nilpraphan serving as Chairperson of the Subcommittee)

These committees will take charge of advancing critical issues according to the JFC’s mission and pushing policy proposals into concrete action, focusing on resolving economic obstacles, enhancing competitive capabilities, and building long-term confidence in the nation's business and investment landscape.
