เมื่อวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 19 กันยายน 2567 นายเกรียงไกร เธียรนุกุล ประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) ได้เข้าร่วมเป็นวิทยากรงานสัมมนาเรื่อง "Global Geopolitics : Implications for business in Thailand" จัดโดยสถาบันวิจัยเพื่อการพัฒนาประเทศไทย (TDRI) ณ ห้อง London โรงแรม Conrad Bangkok
นายเกรียงไกร ได้นำเสนอความเห็นของภาคอุตสาหกรรมต่อปัญหาภูมิรัฐศาสตร์ทั่วโลก (Global Geopolitics) ที่จะส่งผลกระทบต่ออุตสาหกรรมไทยในอนาคต การเลือกตั้งประธานาธิบดีของสหรัฐอเมริกาเป็นประเด็นที่ภาคอุตสาหกรรมให้ความสนใจโดยเฉพาะนโยบายในการขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจที่มีความสอดคล้องกับทิศทางการขับเคลื่อนอุตสาหกรรมที่ไทยให้ความสำคัญ อาทิ การเปลี่ยนผ่านสีเขียว (Green Transition) เนื่องจากประเทศไทยมีความได้เปรียบในเรื่องความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ (Biodiversity) และความยั่งยืน (Sustainability) จะเป็นโอกาสของภาคอุตสาหกรรมไทย รวมถึงนโยบายกีดกันทางการค้าจากความขัดแย้งทางภูมิรัฐศาสตร์ โดยเฉพาะความขัดแย้งระหว่างสหรัฐฯ และจีน จนนำไปสู่การย้ายฐานการผลิต และการระบายสินค้าจากจีนมายังภูมิภาคอาเซียนมากขึ้น
อย่างไรก็ตาม ประเทศไทยควรนำมาตรการตอบโต้การทุ่มตลาดมาใช้ให้ครอบคลุมและรัดกุม รวมถึงเพิ่มความเข้มงวดด้านมาตรฐานสินค้า เพื่อป้องกันปัญหาสินค้าราคาถูกจากจีนเข้ามาตีตลาดในภูมิภาคอาเซียน
ทั้งนี้ มองว่าปัญหา Global Geopolitics ยังนับเป็นโอกาสต่อภาคอุตสาหกรรมไทย หากมีการปรับตัวและเตรียมความพร้อมในเรื่องการปรับปรุงกฎหมาย การพัฒนาโครงสร้างพื้นฐานให้พร้อมรับการลงทุน รวมถึงรองรับการผันตัวไปสู่อุตสาหกรรมแห่งอนาคต ซึ่งจะนำไปสู่การพัฒนาและเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันของภาคอุตสาหกรรมไทย
On Thursday, September 19, 2024, Mr. Kiangkray Thiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), participated as a speaker at the seminar titled "Global Geopolitics: Implications for Business in Thailand," organized by the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI) at the London Room, Conrad Bangkok Hotel.
Mr. Kiangkray presented the perspective of the industrial sector on global geopolitical issues that may impact Thai industries in the future. The U.S. presidential election is a topic of great interest to the industrial sector, especially regarding policies that drive economic growth in alignment with Thailand's industrial priorities, such as the Green Transition. Thailand's advantages in biodiversity and sustainability present opportunities for Thai industries, along with trade barriers arising from geopolitical conflicts, particularly between the U.S. and China, leading to increased production relocation and product diversion from China to the ASEAN region.
However, Thailand should implement comprehensive and robust anti-dumping measures, as well as strengthen product standards to prevent cheap goods from China from penetrating the ASEAN market.
Furthermore, the issue of Global Geopolitics is viewed as an opportunity for Thai industries, provided there is adaptation and preparedness regarding legal reforms, infrastructure development to attract investments, and readiness to transition to future industries, ultimately leading to development and enhanced competitiveness of Thai industries.
