Sales

Domestic sales of automobiles in May 2024 totaled 49,871 units, an increase of 6.70% from April 2024 but a decrease of 23.38% from the same month last year. The industrial production index has declined for more than ten consecutive months, with many factories reducing working hours and thousands of employees being laid off, leading to financial strain. Consumers have become cautious in spending due to income uncertainties along with rising costs for food, transportation, and energy. It is expected that the Thai economy may improve in the latter half of this year with the 2024 and 2025 budgets currently under consideration by the Assembly, although concerns remain regarding whether economic growth will reach 3% if automobile production, sales, and real estate continue to experience declines, as both sectors are highly interconnected with significant employment impacts on domestic economic growth.
