กกร. หารือนายกฯ ยื่นข้อเสนอสมุดปกขาว แก้ไขปัญหา ศก.Joint Committee Meets with Prime Minister to Submit White Paper Proposals for Economic Issues

On Monday, October 28, 2024, the Joint Committee of the Private Sector consisting of Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, Chairman of the Joint Committee of the Private Sector (JCP) and Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Kriangkerd Thiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), and Mr. Phayong Srivanish, Chairman of the Thai Bankers' Association, along with the executive committee of the Joint Committee, met with Ms. Phaethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, and her team to discuss and present the white paper proposals of the Joint Committee aimed at addressing the economic challenges of the country at the Purple Room, Thai Koo Fah Building, 1st Floor, Government House.

The Joint Committee has proposed four areas of focus:

1) Solutions to economic issues, such as lowering energy prices and restructuring energy pricing, along with pushing for the establishment of the Energy Policy Committee and urging the government to expedite economic stimulus measures and measures to reduce the cost of living for the public.

2) Assistance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by upgrading to Smart SMEs through the 4 Go policy, including Go Digital & AI, which utilizes digital technology and AI to enhance business capabilities; Go Innovation to promote access to innovation; Go Global to expand opportunities in foreign markets; and Go Green to prepare organizations for sustainable development (ESG), as well as improving unnecessary laws and procedures (Ease of Doing Business).

3) Efficient water management through integration within government agencies for water management and developing a real-time alert system, as well as linking data between water demand and supply appropriately.

4) Strategies to enhance the competitiveness of Thailand, especially in protecting domestic industry interests from low-quality imported goods and dumping, while promoting domestically produced goods and products certified as Made in Thailand (MiT), as well as supporting the transition from traditional combustion engine vehicles to future vehicles and promoting a green economy.

Additionally, the Prime Minister acknowledged the white paper proposals from the Joint Committee, which will be considered individually later, and agreed to establish a Joint Public-Private Committee for Economic Issues (JPC), which will convene every six months to jointly drive the Thai economy forward.
