ระหว่างวันที่ 10-15 พฤศจิกายน 2567 นายเวทิต โชควัฒนา รองประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) และ ABAC Alternate Member เข้าร่วมประชุมสภาที่ปรึกษาทางธุรกิจเอเปค (APEC Business Advisory Council : ABAC) ครั้งที่ 4/2024 ณ กรุงลิมา ประเทศเปรู
ในปี 2567 ที่ประชุม ABAC มีข้อเสนอต่อผู้นำเอเปค อาทิ การบูรณาการนโยบายการค้าและเศรษฐกิจให้สอดคล้องกัน โดยขับเคลื่อนเขตการค้าเสรีระหว่างประเทศสมาชิก APEC (FTAAP) ผ่านเขตการค้าเสรี (FTA) ที่มีมาตรฐานสูง การส่งเสริมการค้าดิจิทัลและการค้าไร้กระดาษ (Paperless Trade) สนับสนุนกลไกองค์การการค้าโลก (WTO) และสร้างห่วงโซ่อุปทานที่ยืดหยุ่น พร้อมทั้งผลักดันการเติบโตอย่างครอบคลุม โดยเพิ่มโอกาสให้ผู้หญิงและผู้ประกอบวิสาหกิจขนาดกลาง ขนาดย่อม และรายย่อย (MSMEs) เข้าถึงเงินทุนและเทคโนโลยี ขณะเดียวกันยังขอให้ส่งเสริมเศรษฐกิจสีเขียว ผ่านการใช้พลังงานหมุนเวียน การเงินสีเขียว (Green Finance) และตลาดคาร์บอน สนับสนุนการมีมาตรฐานที่สอดคล้องกันในการกำกับดูแล AI การจัดเก็บภาษีดิจิทัล และพัฒนาทักษะแรงงานเพื่ออนาคต
นอกจากนี้ ในช่วงการการประชุม APEC CEO Summit 2024 นางสาวแพทองธาร ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้กล่าวถ้อยแถลง ซึ่งมีใจความสำคัญว่าเรื่องสุขภาพและความเป็นอยู่ที่ดี ถือเป็นสิ่งสำคัญอันดับต้นๆ และเกี่ยวพันโดยตรงกับความท้าทายและโอกาสทางเศรษฐกิจในทุกด้านที่ทั้งโลกต้องเผชิญ ประเทศไทยจึงเชื่อว่าระบบสาธารณสุขถือเป็นสิทธิขั้นพื้นฐาน เพราะสุขภาพที่ดีจะเป็นรากฐานสำคัญของความมั่นคงของมนุษย์และเป็นความมั่งคั่งที่แท้จริงทางเศรษฐกิจของประเทศไทย โดยเน้นย้ำความสำเร็จของระบบหลักประกันสุขภาพถ้วนหน้า (Universal Health Coverage: UHC) ตั้งแต่ปี 2545 ซึ่งทำให้คนไทยสามารถเข้าถึงบริการด้านสุขภาพอีกด้วย
From November 10-15, 2024, Mr. Wetit Chokevattanakarn, Vice President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and ABAC Alternate Member, attended the 4th APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) meeting in Lima, Peru.
In 2024, the ABAC meeting presented proposals to the APEC leaders, including the integration of trade and economic policies in alignment, driving the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP) through high-standard Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), promoting digital trade and paperless trade, supporting the World Trade Organization (WTO) mechanism, and establishing a resilient supply chain. Furthermore, it advocated for inclusive growth by enhancing opportunities for women and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to access financing and technology. At the same time, it called for the promotion of a green economy through renewable energy use, green finance, and carbon markets, supporting harmonized standards for AI governance, digital taxation, and developing future workforce skills.
Additionally, during the APEC CEO Summit 2024, Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, delivered a statement emphasizing that health and well-being are among the top priorities directly linked to the economic challenges and opportunities that the world faces. Thailand believes that the healthcare system is a fundamental right, as good health is a crucial foundation for human security and true economic wealth in Thailand, highlighting the success of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) system since 2002, which has enabled Thais to access health services as well.
