นายวีระพงษ์ เข้าพบหารือ ส.อ.ท. เนื่องในโอกาสรับตำแหน่งที่ปรึกษานายกรัฐมนตรี เพื่อทำหน้าที่ผู้แทนการค้าไทย พร้อมทั้งได้ร่วมหารือถึงแนวทางความร่วมมือ และแลกเปลี่ยนความเห็นในประเด็นของผลกระทบจากการเจรจาการค้าระหว่างประเทศ ได้แก่ ความท้าทายจากการเจรจาความตกลงเขตการค้าเสรีไทย-ยุโรป กฎระเบียบทางการค้าที่เกี่ยวข้องต่อความยั่งยืนของสหภาพยุโรป อาทิ กฎหมายว่าด้วยสินค้าที่ปลอดจากการตัดไม้ทำลายป่า (EUDR) โดย ส.อ.ท. สนับสนุนการเร่งแต่งตั้งหน่วยงาน National Focal Point ของไทยเพื่อเจรจาต่อสหภาพยุโรปในประเด็นนิยามพื้นที่ป่าของไทย และการเตรียมความพร้อมของ SMEs ต่อการเปลี่ยนผ่านสีเขียว โดย ส.อ.ท. ได้เสนอถึงการรับความช่วยเหลือทางเทคนิคจากประเทศที่มีความเชี่ยวชาญด้านเทคโนโลยีสีเขียวผ่านเวทีการเจรจาระหว่างประเทศ อาทิ FTA TH-EU และผ่านกระบวนการเข้าเป็นสมาชิกองค์การเพื่อความร่วมมือและการพัฒนาทางเศรษฐกิจ (OECD) หรือ The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้และพัฒนาศักยภาพของผู้ประกอบการอุตสาหกรรมไทยในอนาคต
On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), together with Dr. Phak Nilsuwan Leelarasamee, Mr. Chatichai Panichchiva, Mr. Thanarak Pongpetrak, Vice Chairmen, Mr. Piyawat Piaypaichayont, Mr. Chayut Sripian, Deputy Secretary-General, Ms. Nintira Apising, Committee Member and Secretary of the Climate Change Institute, Dr. Suwanit Boonyasuwat, Committee Member and Assistant Secretary of the Climate Change Institute, and Dr. Tavisant Wirachphongsanan, Committee Member for International Affairs, welcomed and discussed with Mr. Weerapong Prapha, the Thai Trade Representative, and his team at the FTI Passion Meeting Room (802).
Mr. Weerapong met with the FTI on the occasion of his appointment as an advisor to the Prime Minister, serving as the Thai Trade Representative. Additionally, discussions centered on cooperation frameworks and exchanges of views regarding the impacts of international trade negotiations, including challenges from the Thailand-European Union Free Trade Agreement negotiations, trade regulations concerning the sustainability of the European Union, such as the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). The FTI supported the expedited appointment of a National Focal Point agency in Thailand to negotiate with the European Union on the definition of forest areas in Thailand and the preparedness of SMEs for the green transition. Moreover, the FTI proposed to seek technical assistance from countries with expertise in green technology through international negotiation forums, such as FTA TH-EU, and via the process of joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to exchange knowledge and enhance the capacity of Thai industry operators in the future.
