ส.อ.ท. ลง MOU ร่วมสมาพันธ์อุตสาหกรรมเนปาล หนุนความร่วมมือระหว่างกันFTI Signs MOU with Confederation of Nepali Industries to Enhance Cooperation

On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Mr. Kriangkrai Thiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federation of Thai Industries and the Confederation of Nepali Industries (CNI), with Mr. Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Chairman of the CNI, also signing. The ceremony was honored by the presence of Ms. Phaethongthar Chinnawat, the Prime Minister, and Mr. K P Sharma Oli, the Prime Minister of Nepal, as witnesses at the Santimaitri Building (Inner) in Government House.

The signing of this MOU took place on the occasion of Mr. K P Sharma Oli's official visit to Thailand as a guest of the government. This MOU aims to facilitate the exchange of cooperation between public and private sectors, consisting of eight agreements that strengthen collaboration in tourism, culture, trade, industry, medicine, agriculture, and education, as follows:

1. Memorandum of Understanding on Thai-Nepali Tourism Cooperation
2. Thai-Nepal Cultural Agreement
3. Memorandum of Understanding between the Tourism Council of Thailand and the Nepal Chamber of Commerce
4. Memorandum of Understanding between Ramathibodi Hospital's Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University, and Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS)
5. Memorandum of Understanding between Kasetsart University and Jantra Agro and Forestry
6. Cooperation Agreement between Siam University and Kathmandu University
7. Memorandum of Understanding between the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI)
8. Memorandum of Understanding between the Federation of Thai Industries and the Confederation of Nepali Industries (CNI)

This visit to Thailand by the Nepalese leader marks the first official visit in 66 years, highlighting the long-standing relations between Thailand and Nepal. It is hoped that this visit will strengthen cooperation and create new opportunities for future collaboration. Both parties discussed energy matters, with Thailand expressing admiration for Nepal's management of its abundant water resources and the development of hydropower projects. Both sides agreed to promote cooperation in energy and infrastructure, enhance business convenience, reduce trade barriers, and develop economic advantages to push bilateral trade value beyond the current $40 million. Thailand also supports increased private sector investment in the Nepali market.
Regarding connectivity, both parties recognized the importance of expanding transportation routes to stimulate the economy and tourism, supporting the expansion of flight routes connecting Bangkok and Kathmandu, and discussing the feasibility of direct flights to Lumbini.
