On January 27, 2026, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), through the Small and Medium Enterprises Institute (SMI), organized an online seminar to extract lessons learned and disseminate case studies related to the application of Generative AI (GenAI) in the business sector resulting in tangible outcomes under the concept of creating an AI Transformation Playbook for Thai entrepreneurs. The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Apichit Prasoprat, Vice President of the FTI and President of the SMI Institute, who delivered the opening remarks, along with the SMI Institute Committee and over 80 participants from the SMEs alumni of the Smart SMEs Go Digital & AI program in all three cohorts, held at ThaiBev Hall, 10th floor of FTI, and live-streamed via Zoom Online.
Mr. Apichit stated that Generative AI is no longer an abstract concept. According to a recent survey, over 65% of leading companies worldwide have already implemented GenAI in their daily operations. Additionally, from the implementation of the Smart SMEs Go Digital & AI project, it was found that GenAI can help reduce costs and save working time by up to 80-90%, as well as shorten the research and development (R&D) time from several months down to just a few days.
Moreover, Mr. Apichit further stated that “This project serves as a strategic blueprint to enable Thai SMEs to think fast, act efficiently, and be ready to compete. The FTI will continue to expand the policy on Digital & AI to all industrial sectors across the country to enhance sustainable competitive capabilities.”
Key highlights of the seminar included the SMEs Showcase showcasing real-world AI case studies in business, such as the use of AI for business valuation to present business plans to investors, and the development of an AI-based inventory counting system to enhance accuracy and efficiency in management.
In addition, the event also featured a Sharing Session that delved into the adaptation of organizational leaders in Digital & AI, graciously led by Dr. Sritai Prahmani, Project Manager of AIS Infinite SMEs, as well as a booth showcasing technology services from the digital industry and an AI Clinic offering in-depth consultations by experts, alongside a distribution of the Use Case Handbook for immediate application within their organizations.
