Quick Win
[3 Quick Big Win
Thailand–EU FTA
Thailand Strategic Export Roadmap
On August 20, 2026, Mr. Jane Namchaishiri, Board Member of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and Vice Chairman of International Affairs, participated in the International Trade Working Group meeting under the Subcommittee on Trade, Tourism, and Community Economy at the Kittiyakornwaralak Room, Ministry of Commerce.
The meeting aimed to drive Thailand's international trade, emphasizing the importance of reducing market concentration among operators, expanding new markets while maintaining existing ones, rapidly utilizing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) benefits, and reducing trade barriers to enhance the competitiveness of Thai operators. This includes promoting Local Content, integrating SMEs into the global supply chain, and increasing export value, with a focus on proactive implementation and promoting short-term measures or Quick Wins.
[3 Quick Big Wins Transform 'Waiting for Orders' into 'Proactive Market Pursuit']
On this occasion, a representative of the FTI presented 3 Quick Big Wins to support market expansion and enhance the competitive capabilities of Thai operators, which include:
1. Accelerate Thailand–EU FTA Negotiations
It is recommended to set a clear timeline and action plan, expedite the resolution of outstanding negotiation issues, and establish a continuous consultation mechanism between the public and private sectors to enable the private sector to prepare and fully take advantage of the agreement.
2. Accelerate Risk Diversification and Expand New Potential Markets
Amid competitive constraints due to tax competition, trade barriers, and economic slowdowns in many countries, Thailand should accelerate market risk diversification away from core markets and expand opportunities in potential markets such as India, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa, which have prospects for consumption and investment growth. Both the public and private sectors should jointly promote Trade Missions and Business Matching in both onsite and online formats.
3. Develop a Thailand Strategic Export Roadmap
It is proposed that the government takes the lead in initiating the development of the Thailand Strategic Export Roadmap using existing international trade data to analyze and define target markets, industries, and products with potential in each market. Meanwhile, the private sector, especially the FTI, can contribute to data verification, provide in-depth insights from operators, and reflect limitations and business opportunities in each market.
The FTI affirms its readiness to work collaboratively with the government and relevant agencies to push forward proactive trade measures, reduce trade barriers, open new markets, and create opportunities for Thai operators, particularly SMEs, to access foreign markets and integrate into the global supply chain more effectively, ultimately leading to increased export value and enhancing Thailand's long-term competitiveness.
