On September 3, 2026, Mrs. Pimjai Leeissaranukul, Chairperson of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), along with the FTI executive team, in cooperation with the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Thai Bankers' Association, on behalf of the Joint Private Sector Committee (JPSC), the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Thailand, and the World Bank Group, organized The Bangkok Business Summit 2026 “Reinvent Thailand, Resilient ASEAN” at the Sirikit National Convention Center to set directions for enhancing the Thai economy and fostering growth in connection with ASEAN.

During the event, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul delivered a keynote speech titled “Thailand’s Offer to the World,” highlighting Thailand's adaptation to changes in geopolitics, technology, climate conditions, and demographic structures. He emphasized pushing AI, advanced technology, the green economy, and Longevity Economy as new economic engines, while simultaneously elevating Thailand to be the center of industry and supply chains in ASEAN. Additionally, he announced a review of over 7,000 regulations and the promotion of investments linking Thai entrepreneurs to facilitate technology transfer and upgrading domestic suppliers.

In a press conference following the event, Dr. Aekniti Nitiprapha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, reiterated the drive for the Thai economy at the global, regional, and national levels. Meanwhile, Mr. Carlos Felipe Jaramillo, Vice President of the World Bank for the East Asia and Pacific region, emphasized that success must shift from determining what Thailand “should do” to answering “how to make it happen,” while supporting cooperation for Thailand's transition.

The transition from proposals to action will occur at three levels: global, regional, and national. At the global level, the outcomes of the meeting will lead to hosting the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026 from October 12-18, in order to connect Thai and ASEAN challenges with knowledge, capital, and partnerships from around the world. At the regional level, cooperation must be established between governments to align regulations, standards, and infrastructure; between businesses to link manufacturers and suppliers for joint investment, technology transfer, and human development; and between governments and the business sector to collaboratively solve problems and push proposals into practical outcomes. At the national level, the Joint Public-Private Sector Committee (JPSC) will serve as the main mechanism for driving these initiatives, segmented into four interlinked pillars: investment and new economic engines, trade and community economics, human development, and enhancing public sector efficiency.

The private sector unanimously recognizes the necessity to leverage existing strengths and create new economic engines by rapidly developing the ecosystem surrounding energy, digital data, finance, regulations, standards, and regional value chain linkages. Additionally, they intend to produce a White Paper titled “Thailand’s New Horizons – Empowering People, Building Resilience” to push proposals into actionable implementations.

Mrs. Pimjai stated that Thailand has a well-established industrial base and supply chain with over 60 years of experience and is recognized for its quality and standards. Therefore, it is well-prepared to transition to Intelligent Industry and increase its role in the Global Supply Chain. This transition requires reliable energy and competitive costs. The PDP 2026 plan supports the Net Zero goal by 2050, with a logistics system that connects ASEAN, regulatory reforms, and human capital development, alongside promoting Made in Thailand and Local Content, to ensure that investments lead to technology transfer, developing Thai suppliers, creating high-skilled jobs, and adding domestic value.

The organization of The Bangkok Business Summit 2026 marks the beginning of connecting the mechanisms of “government–private sector–international partnerships” from proposals to actionable efforts. The FTI is committed to advancing industrial issues into concrete outcomes to enhance competitiveness, create new economic engines, and lay the foundation for Thailand to become a hub for industry and supply chains in ASEAN.

Additionally, the JPSC will compile proposals and lessons learned from the meeting into a White Paper to serve as a framework for cooperation between the government and the private sector, and to exchange in the upcoming IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026 under the theme Thailand’s New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience.
