เมื่อวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 19 กันยายน 2567 ดร.วิบูลย์ รักสาสน์เจริญผล กรรมการบริหารสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) หารือร่วมกับ Mr. Evan Schlosser ซึ่งดำรงตำแหน่ง Semiconductor Trade Specialist ของกระทรวงพาณิชย์สหรัฐฯ และ Mr. Charles Phillips ตำแหน่ง Deputy Senior Commercial Officer เรื่องแนวโน้มภาพรวมอุตสาหกรรมเซมิคอนดักเตอร์ของไทย เพื่อพิจารณาความร่วมมือและการลงทุนภายใต้กรอบความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจอินโด-แปซิฟิก (Indo-Pacific Economic Framework: IPEF) ณ ส.อ.ท.
ในส่วนของการหารือด้านศักยภาพของประเทศไทย ทาง ส.อ.ท. ให้ความเห็นว่าซัพพลายเชน (Supply chain) ของไทยมีศักยภาพสูงที่สามารถต่อยอดสินค้าเดิมที่มีอยู่ ด้วยการสนับสนุนของภาครัฐ การวิจัยและนวัตกรรม เพื่อให้สินค้ามีมูลค่าสูงขึ้น
ดังนั้น จากการหารือจึงมีข้อเสนอแนะ 2 ประเด็นดังนี้
1. One-stop service สำหรับอุตสาหกรรมเซมิคอนดักเตอร์ เพื่อจับคู่กับอุตสาหกรรมและนักลงทุนให้สามารถเข้าถึงอุตสาหกรรมผลิตได้โดยตรง
2. การจัดทำ National semiconductor strategy เพื่อนำมาเป็นแผนผลักดันการดำเนินงาน การประชุมหารือและรวบรวมข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้องกับอุตสาหกรรมเซมิคอนดักเตอร์โดยตรง
On Thursday, September 19, 2024, Dr. Wibul Raksasartjaroenphol, Executive Board Member of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), met with Mr. Evan Schlosser, who serves as the Semiconductor Trade Specialist of the U.S. Department of Commerce, and Mr. Charles Phillips, Deputy Senior Commercial Officer, to discuss the overall trends of Thailand's semiconductor industry. The meeting aimed to explore cooperation and investment opportunities under the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) at the FTI.
Regarding the discussion on Thailand's potential, the FTI expressed that Thailand's supply chain has significant potential to enhance existing products with government support, research, and innovation, thereby increasing product value.
Therefore, the discussions led to two recommendations as follows:
1. One-stop service for the semiconductor industry to connect industries and investors for direct access to manufacturing.
2. Development of a National Semiconductor Strategy to serve as a framework for promoting operations, meetings, discussions, and the gathering of information related to the semiconductor industry directly.
