รองประธาน ส.อ.ท. ร่วมเสวนา “กลไกการเร่งขับเคลื่อนประเทศไทยสู่เป้าหมาย Net Zero”Vice Chairman of FTI Participates in Forum on “Mechanisms to Accelerate Thailand towards Net Zero Goals”

On October 18, 2024, Dr. Chana Poomi, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), had the honor to participate as a speaker in the GC Sustainable Living Symposium 2024: GEN S GATHERING, discussing the topic “Mechanisms to Accelerate Thailand towards Net Zero Goals.”  This event was organized by PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited at Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon Shopping Center.

During the event, Dr. Chana joined a discussion with Mr. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council, Mr. Prawit Prakitsri, Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Poonasit Wongthawatchai, Chief of Support Team for the 3-Year Sustainability Strategic Plan of the Thai Banking Association.

Dr. Chana expressed his views on the transition to a low-carbon society, emphasizing the importance of government policies that should clearly outline the path towards a BCG (Bio-Circular-Green Economy) and carbon reduction. Furthermore, the importation of technology should align with critical issues facing Thailand, requiring the development of collaborative action plans across various sectors. Meanwhile, FTI is planning the transition to a Green Industry and Green Supply Chain, focusing on developing Green Infrastructure driven by legislation and management with clear objectives aligned with significant issues.

In addition, Dr. Chana highlighted key areas that Thailand still needs to develop, including the energy transition to support green energy, managing water infrastructure to address drought and flooding issues, and supporting SMEs to facilitate easier access to green financing.

The GC Sustainable Living Symposium 2024: GEN S GATHERING marks its fifth occurrence, aiming to encourage all sectors to explore global trends and the transition towards carbon neutrality, analyze Thailand’s pathways toward a low-carbon society, and delve into strategies, policies, and practices that aid in carbon reduction, as well as the challenges and opportunities that can be leveraged to address global warming and achieve net-zero carbon dioxide emissions in the future. Additionally, the event featured exhibitions of environmentally friendly products and innovations to promote Net Zero Lifestyles and sustainable transitions.
