On Monday, September 9, 2024, Mr. Kiangkray Thiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), along with Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Dr. Kirati Kitmanawattana, Chief Executive Officer of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), Mr. Prasit Boonduangprasert, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited, and Ms. Jitraporn Jaratsamran, Corporate Communications Executive of FTI, attended a ceremony to congratulate TNN Channel 16 on its 17th anniversary. They were welcomed by Mr. Ong-art Prapakorn, Head of True Visions and Media Department at True Corporation Public Company Limited and Managing Director of Thai News Network (TNN Channel 16) Limited. Furthermore, Mr. Kiangkray delivered a lecture titled “Accelerate Thailand: Driving Thailand to Connect with the World” at the Grand Hall, 3rd Floor, True Digital Park.

During the lecture, Mr. Kiangkray stated that amid various challenges, including technological changes, trade wars, technology wars, and geopolitical issues, the industrial sector is facing significant burdens. There is a need for adaptation to keep pace with these changes, with both the public and private sectors serving as essential mechanisms to assist and cope with these challenges.

To drive the initiatives of FTI, the policy of ONE FTI has been utilized as a driving mechanism, consisting of ONE Vision to strengthen the industry for a more robust Thailand, ONE Team for unified cooperation, and ONE Goal with clear objectives aimed at collective collaboration.

FTI also promotes and elevates the Thai industry by encouraging existing industries (First Industries) to adapt by integrating technology, digitalization, and innovation amidst rising costs and decreasing competitive advantages. It is essential to enhance the strength of these industries while also addressing global demands for sustainability, clean energy, and green industries, along with reducing carbon dioxide emissions. This includes the promotion of new industries or Next-Gen Industries to drive sustainable economic growth.

Moreover, the most critical factor for the advancement of the industrial sector is the drive towards supporting SMEs, which account for 90% of the sector. SMEs need to transition to Smart SMEs through the 4GO concept: 1) Go Digital & AI to apply digital innovations for business efficiency, 2) Go Innovation to support small but mighty SMEs to grow through initiatives such as the Innovation Fund Day and other FTI projects, 3) Go Global to elevate standards to international levels and integrate into the global supply chain while expanding exports to global markets, and 4) Go Green to promote high-value industries under the BCG Model and create competitive advantages in producing environmentally friendly products.

Thailand has the highest export rates in the automotive and automotive parts industries, as well as electronic devices. Simultaneously, it is crucial to expedite investments from foreign investors by maintaining the existing investor base and increasing the new investor base.

Therefore, cooperation between the public and private sectors to drive Thailand towards becoming a global manufacturing hub must be supported, focusing on creating economic stability, infrastructural development, labor skill advancement, promoting investments, facilitating trade agreements, reducing outdated regulations, enhancing the quality of life for Thai people, and strengthening the tourism, manufacturing, and energy sectors.
